Wisconsin man caught driving without headlights surrenders with cocaine and half-full pitcher of beer

MCFARLAND, Wis. (WFRV) – A 40-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested after being pulled over for driving without headlights. He surrendered to police before they made contact and was found with cocaine and a half-full pitcher of beer from a local bar.

According to the McFarland Police Department, shortly before 1:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, an officer saw a vehicle driving on Broadhead Street without its lights on. During the traffic stop, the driver exited the vehicle with his hands raised.

The man laid on the ground and told the officer, “You got me.”

With the driver’s consent, the officer searched him and found cocaine in his pocket. A pub-style pitcher, half-full of beer reportedly taken from a local bar, was found on the passenger-side floorboard.

Police said a search of the vehicle uncovered about 14 grams of mushrooms and other drug paraphernalia.

Field sobriety tests were performed, and the Deerfield man was arrested for his fourth OWI offense.

The driver, who was subject to a 0.02 alcohol concentration restriction and had a revoked license, took a chemical breath test, which showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.11.

He faces charges of OWI fourth offense, PAC fourth offense, possession of cocaine, and possession of a controlled substance (hallucinogenic). He was booked into the Dane County Jail.

Police also referred charges of operating while revoked and failing to install an ignition interlock device to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office.
