MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Wisconsin urged proper disposal of electronics and lithium-ion batteries after a 4,000-pound pile of recyclables caught fire.
The Madison Fire Department reported that Ladder 2 was sent to the area of East Pass and Grove Circle on Tuesday morning for a reported fire.

The fire reportedly involved nearly 4,000 pounds of discarded items, which were dumped on the street and reported by a recycling collection operator.
No cause has been determined, but officials recovered an old computer in the pile. Madison Officials are urging proper recycling, saying that electronics and anything that contains lithium-ion batteries must be disposed of properly, and they should never be put in a recycling bin.
