Icy northern Wisconsin roads factored into deadly crash that killed passenger

SUGAR CAMP, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities say that icy road conditions factored into a deadly single-vehicle crash in northern Wisconsin on Friday morning.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a crash on Highway 17 near the intersection of Sunset Road in the Town of Sugar Camp around 10 a.m. on December 6.

Deputies say that the vehicle hit a tree after icy road conditions caused it to leave the road.

The driver suffered only minor injuries and first responders had to extricate a passenger. The passenger was taken to a Rhinelander hospital where they were then pronounced dead.
