Happy Supper Club Day in Wisconsin

KEWAUNEE, WI (WFRV) – Wisconsinites have reason to celebrate August 31st since 2017 when then-Governor Scott Walker declared it “Supper Club Day” in the state.

Although supper club guru Ron Faoila says supper clubs first emerged in London and New York City, Wisconsin has arguably taken the tradition to a whole new level and northeast Wisconsin has the highest concentration of supper clubs compared with anywhere else in the state.

Local 5 News revisited our friends at the Wildflower Supper Club in Kewaunee.

Nearly two years ago they talked about the challenges they faced during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Now, the supper club has truly blossomed.

They had to hire extra people and add dining space to meet demand.

They credit social media groups who often meet in person and share experiences, using mini-construction cones on their tables so they can easily recognize each other.

“Oh my gosh, we are so excited,” said Front of House Manager Angel Davis. She is also the Aunt of owner Cassie Jelinek. “We have had an opportunity to meet so many wonderful people who join us with their orange cones. We love seeing them!”

Every first Thursday of the month, Local 5 profiles or updates a different supper club.
