Christmas Trees grown in northeast Wisconsin to be donated to military members in Kansas

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Military members in Kansas are about to receive a gift filled with the spirit of the holiday season, as Christmas Trees grown in northeast Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula were loaded onto a truck for delivery on Tuesday morning.

Paul Schroeder represents the North Country Christmas Farm in Wausaukee, and he coordinated the efforts for the Green Bay Area’s Trees for Troops.

Northeast Wisconsin organizations set up gift donations ahead of the cold holiday season

“We’ll collect about 300 trees here,” Schroeder said. “Wisconsin does about 600 trees, which all get shipped to various military bases.”

This is the 20th year of the Trees for Troops event, and the National Christmas Tree Association donates about 15,000 per year. Last year, the event hit a total of 300,000 donated trees.
