Authorities foil school shooting plot linked to Indiana teen; Wisconsin connection revealed

ADDISON, Wis. (WFRV) – A collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies has thwarted a planned school shooting set for Valentine’s Day, involving an 18-year-old Indiana woman and a 19-year-old Wisconsin resident.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin acted on a tip from the Sandy Hook Promise Violence Hotline, ultimately leading to the arrest of Mooresville, Indiana resident Trinity Shockley. The 19-year-old Wisconsin woman, residing in Addison, was detained but later released after authorities determined she was not directly connected to the plot.

The investigation began when the Wisconsin Department of Justice received the initial tip, which described threats of a school shooting and provided details linking both individuals. Shockley was found to have an extensive archive of conversations and materials related to the planned attack.

In Indiana, Shockley is facing multiple felony charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and intimidation. A search of her residence uncovered alarming evidence, including mass shooter memorabilia, notebooks with violent passages, AR-15 magazines, and a tactical vest.

Shockley had reportedly planned to execute the attack at Mooresville High School using an AR-15 rifle. The tipster provided screenshots of messages, photos of weapons, and plans, including Shockley’s fixation on Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz.

During police interviews, Shockley admitted to admiring Cruz and said the shooting was meant to emulate his actions. Shockley’s writings revealed disturbing homicidal thoughts, a desire for recognition, and a history of mental health struggles that her father allegedly dismissed.

Mooresville Metropolitan Police Chief Kerry Buckner called the case “very disturbing,” expressing gratitude for the tipster’s role in preventing a tragedy.

“This is a small town. To think someone was plotting to harm so many individuals, especially children, is unsettling,” Buckner stated.

Shockley remains in custody at the Morgan County Jail without bond, while investigations continue in both Wisconsin and Indiana.
