Austin Straubel International Airport celebrates five years of flying with Frontier

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials at the Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB) celebrated five years of fun and flying for local travelers on Frontier Airlines on Wednesday.

Airport officials held a special event with themed giveaways, themed candy items, cut-out displays of animals that appear on the tails of Frontier planes, and more.

“We were very excited to welcome Frontier to Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB) in 2019,” said Airport Director Marty Piette, A.A.E. “We knew this low-fare carrier, offering seasonal nonstop flights would be extremely popular with local travelers, but it has exceeded our expectations,” Piette adds that Frontier has responded to support for its flights by extending service for additional months as well as the day’s services are offered. Currently, Frontier is offering nonstop service to/from GRB to Denver International Airport (DEN).

“Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport has been a great partner for Frontier Airlines,” stated Josh Flyr, vice president of network operations and design at Frontier Airlines. “We appreciate the support of the team at GRB as well as area residents who are taking full advantage of our ‘Low Fares Done Right.’  The recently introduced ‘New Frontier,’ featuring upfront, transparent, bundled pricing options, no change or cancellation fees when purchasing a bundle, and enhanced customer service, provide even more reasons to fly Frontier.”

Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach stated, “We are pleased Frontier Airlines chose GRB for service and continues to serve our airport and local travelers. It’s a direct reflection of our region’s strong economy and support for the airport.”

The anniversary celebration was held prior to Frontier’s 1:46 p.m. flight from Green Bay to Denver.
