APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – An Appleton man is facing charges of possessing child porn and distributing bestiality content in December 2024 with cash bond set at $15,000.

According to the criminal complaint against 26-year-old Erik Sundqvist, the child porn charge stems from December 12, 2024, when Sundqvist allegedly acquired and viewed images of a child performing sexually explicit actions, and reasonably should have known that the child was under 18.

The criminal complaint said that the bestiality distribution charge stems from the same date, when Sundqvist knowingly transmitted obscenities with a person engaging in sexual conduct with an animal.

The child pornography charge is a Class D Felony and a conviction could see a fine of up to $100,000 and/or prison time up to 25 years. If convicted of the bestiality charge, a Class H Felony, Sundqvist would face up to $10,000 in fines and/or six years of prison.

The criminal complaint said that probable cause came from a complaint from an officer who reported that he received a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children regarding child sexual abuse material shared on the messaging app ‘Kik.’

According to the criminal complaint, the file associated with the tip portrayed a female, whom the officer deemed to be underage based on experience, engaging in sexual intercourse with a dog.

A subpoena was obtained for the IP address aligned with the tip, which identified the address as the home of Sundqvist. The officer obtained a search warrant for the Kik account associated with the tip, and an email from Kik on February 11 said that the warrant was processed.

The Officer downloaded the warranted file from Kik, which contained multiple images or videos and an Excel spreadsheet. The file contained sexually explicit items.

When contact was made with Sundqvist, he was reportedly holding a phone of the same make and model as the tip, and it was seized from him. He admitted to being active on Kik last year, and that he started watching some of the material about 14 years ago, according to the complaint.
